Department of  Higher Education

From a modest beginning on 8^th September,1959, Fazl Ali College has emerged as one of the leading educational institutions of the State. It is a co-educational  College, located about 5 kms from Mokokchung town.The College is set amidst beautiful natural surroundings with easy access to the Town. The Science stream was introduced in 1983 with upgradation to B.Sc in 1999.

Taken over by the Government on 01.03.1962. 

Arts: The College  offers  Honours  in  History,  Political Science,  Education, Philosophy,Economics,  English  and  Sociology.

Science stream: Honours are offered in Physics,Zoology, Botany, Mathematics, Chemistry  and  Geography.

 Progress of the College:

a.NAAC Accreditation : The College went through the rigorous exercise of NAAC Accreditation from August 27-29^th 2009 and the result of which was declared on 30^th September,2009. The College was rewarded a ‘B’ grade. It became the first Government College in the State to be accredited by NAAC.

b.Golden Jubilee: The College completed its 50^th years on 8^th September,2009.The grand finale for its 50^th was held on 11^th November ,2009. Dr.Shurhozelie Liezietsu, Hon’ble Minister , Higher Education and Dr.K.Ngangshi Ao, Hon’ble Minister, PHED, graced the programme as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Academic reforms:

a.There has been academic exercise not only for students but the year saw 15 inter-Departmental Seminars for the Lecturers of the College. It benefited the teaching community greatly .

b.2009 also witnessed a paradigm shift from mere teaching to Seminar and Paper presentation system , where students were given the chance to work harder and bring out their best.

c.Computer Science subject has been introduced for the B.Sc class from 2009 academic session with the approval of the University. A new Computer Science Laboratory has been set up with the help of the Department of Science and Technology, Delhi.

Physical Developments :

a.Besides renovation of College Auditorium, Adm building ,Classrooms and Hostels, a new Sub-Health Centre has been constructed with assistance from the Medical Department.

b.An imposing entrance gate along with security fence has been constructed.

c.Circular road within the campus has been constructed and repaired under NREGS.

Awards:

Ms.S.Arenla Lkr,HOD, Economics Department received the Higher Education Meritorious Award for the teaching staff and Mr.Repatemjen, Lab Attendant,Geography Department received the Higher Education Commendation certificate for the non-teaching staff.
